We use bridges every day. They take us from here to there over water ways, small rivers, valleys, or towns. We don’t think too much about them. Well, these designers have spent a lot time thinking about what a bridge is, and how can they change how it’s made, how it works, and how it looks.

Changes

The walls are empty as we get ready to welcome in the new. A routine the gallery does every two months when the feature artist change. It is hard for me to remember what the space looked like before the gallery was born. But, to say the truth, I love looking at the changing artwork so much I don’t think about what it used to be.

What do you have that has gone through a major change that you can’t remember what it use to look like?

Hell to Haiti and Back

What was it like to spend time in Haiti after the earthquake?
Humanitarian aid volunteers, Nancy Malone, Founder and President of Hands of Light in Action and HELL Michigan photographer Victor Banta, will be giving a presentation and slide show about their humanitarian adventure to Haiti.
It is hard to sum up, but I would say the trip was intense, rewarding, and very interesting! Some may have thought of it as sad to see all the injured people, but for me it was a very positive experience.
The first time we would visit a patient at the Love a Child disaster Hospital in Haiti, they had a lot of fear. But once we got them up and out of their tents which reached day-time temperatures of 110-120F, their attitudes would start to soar! The next time we came to get them up for a walk, they would be smiling and happy to get outside and walk down to the shade trees. The happiness spread throughout the hospital camp like wildfire. It was such an honor to be a part of the magic!

This fund raiser is free to the public and will be held on 6 March, 2010 at 6:30pm at the InSights Group in Brighton, Michigan.

Sacred Arts of the Angels

Elaine Yanni Fink present series, “Sacred Arts of the Angels,” consists of guilded watercolor and colored pencil. She began to create these inspirational images during a time of great personal struggle, as a way to calm herself and stay focused on creating something positive in her life. At some point, she began to write words to accompany the images. She cannot define where the words come from, as she considers herself neither a poet nor a philosopher. Perhaps they are divine guidance delivered by the angels, as some have suggested, or maybe they are messages from her own inner psyche to guide her and others through challenging times, or possibly she has tapped into the collective unconscious and is receiving messages from the spirit of all humankind. In either case, she merely writes the words as they flow into her consciousness.

Pure Enchantment

Darryl’s love of photography with the gift of his first ” real ” SLR camera in the early 90′s. He ran his own photography company ( On display photography and art ) in Battle creek Mi part time while working in a factory. In 1997 he was employed as a church directory photographer and quickly rose to 3rd top photographer in the company nation wide. Darryl did not remain with the company long because the endless traveling kept him away from his children. Darryl’s next venture led him back to his home town of Lansing, where over the years he freelanced and worked for other photography companies while maintaing his own photography business on the side. The loss of his” day job ” fueled his efforts to grow his love of photography to a full time business. In 2008 Darryl began a new chapter in photography through the use of digital technology. Darryl incorporates his passion for photography in all of his ventures, whether its a wedding, Senior portraits, family events, modeling or landscapes and nature, he views precious moments as a once in a life time moment that needs to be captured. He takes pride in making sure his clients experience is pure enchantment

Winter Photo Contest

Killing time looking at Twitter, I came across this and thought I would share. I know there are a lot you out there that would have beautiful work for this amazing opportunity…

“The Gillette Sand Dune Visitor Center in P.J. Hoffmaster State Park in Muskegon is now accepting photographs for its winter photo contest. The theme for the 2010 winter contest is Michigan winter landscapes.

Each photograph submitted must be of a Michigan winter scene in nature void of man-made structures. All entries must come from amateur photographers only. Each photo must have the name of the scene identified on the back. Photos that do not meet the criteria will be disqualified and returned.”
